About Our Lady of Fatima High School

Our Lady of Fatima High School, situated within the Diocese of Cape Palmas in Liberia, has been an esteemed institution since its inception in the early 1950s, approximately around 1955. Initially established as a secondary school, its reputation for academic excellence and moral fortitude began to flourish under the dedicated efforts of its staff.

In 1960, the school gained prominence thanks to the relentless commitment of its educators and administrators. Guided by its first principal, Fr. James AA. Love, Our Lady of Fatima High School became synonymous with quality education in both the local community and Maryland County at large. The institution's remarkable growth and influence led to its transition from a secondary school to Fatima College, offering associate degrees. Notably, Fatima College became a beacon of higher education in Maryland County, filling a crucial void in the region's academic landscape.

During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Fatima College witnessed a flourishing period, nurturing and graduating numerous students who went on to make significant contributions to society. However, challenges emerged with the departure of key faculty members, including priests and sisters, who returned to their respective countries. This exodus, coupled with deteriorating infrastructure, forced the institution to cease its college operations, reverting to its former status as a high school

Despite the setbacks, Our Lady of Fatima High School persevered and continued to uphold its tradition of excellence. Over the years, the school has been led by a succession of dedicated principals, each contributing to its growth and resilience.
