St. Kizito Catholic Elementary School was founded on September 10, 2009, in Kanweaken City, River Gee County, Liberia. The idea for the school came from the local Church community, who saw the need to establish a learning institution that would promote the message of Jesus Christ. With the support of parishioners, the school was officially opened and began operations.
At its founding, the school was led by Mr. Seapoo M. Chea, who served both as Principal and Catechist. He was supported by Madison Klay as Vice Principal for Administration and Jinkins Johnson as Vice Principal for Instruction. The teaching staff included Anthony Jargba as a classroom teacher and Jimmy Toe, who handled student registration. A total of five teachers were employed at the outset.
The school initially offered classes from ABC to Grade 3 and opened its doors to approximately 60 students. Classes with added over the years and today the school runs as an Elementary (kindergarten to 6th grades) school in the Diocese. Mr. George S. Young chaired the school board, and the late Mr. Sweh Fah served as the Parish Chairman at the time.
St. Kizito Catholic Elementary School was established with a strong commitment to faith-based education. It serves as a cornerstone for spiritual and academic growth in the community.
The population went to 60 students to about 380 students. However, in the last 2 academic years, because of some administrative problems, including the poor structure, as well as parents’ inability to meet the fee payment, the school enrolment has alarmingly reduced.
