The mission of St. Paul Catholic School is to provide accessible and holistic Catholic education that nurtures academic excellence, moral discipline, and spiritual growth among children and youth.
Our vision is to build a strong educational community that empowers students with knowledge, faith, and character to become responsible leaders in society.
St. Paul Catholic School was established in 1996 by the parishioners of St. Paul Catholic Church as a community initiative during Liberia’s civil conflict.
At that time, many children were vulnerable and exposed to the dangers of war, including the risk of recruitment by armed groups. Concerned parishioners decided to create a school that would keep children safe, engaged, and focused on education rather than conflict.
A community committee was formed to identify a suitable place to gather children and begin teaching them. Volunteer teachers, many of whom were parishioners, offered their time and service to educate the children despite the difficult circumstances.
Although the committee successfully secured a place and volunteer teachers, the school faced challenges such as paying rent and providing compensation for teachers.
In 2002, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Gbarnga advised that parents contribute small tuition fees to help sustain the school and support its teachers.
The school operated in a rented building from 1996 until 2013. Through the dedication and support of parishioners, a nine-classroom building was constructed within the church compound between 2015 and 2016.
The new facility allowed the school to expand its academic programs. In 2017, the school officially reopened to the public in the new building, beginning with Nursery through Grade 6.
Today, St. Paul Catholic School has grown into a Junior High institution, currently providing education from Nursery through Grade 9.
