Our Narrative
The Education Secretariat of the Archdiocese of Monrovia plays a crucial role in guiding and managing Catholic education across Bomi, Gbarpolu, Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount, Margibi, Montserrado, and Rivercess Counties. We are committed to ensuring that all Catholic schools under our jurisdiction deliver high-quality education that aligns with the values and standards of Catholic teaching.
Overview
The Secretariat is responsible for administrating and supervising the educational programs and policies of the Archdiocese. This involves various activities, from developing curriculum guidelines to providing professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators. Our efforts are directed toward creating a holistic educational environment that fosters students' intellectual, physical, emotional, moral, and spiritual growth.
Governance and Leadership
The Archdiocesan Education Council (AEC) is the highest decision-making body in our educational structure. It advises the Archbishop on all academic matters and plays a significant role in policy development and revision. The AEC ensures that our schools are consistently improving and adapting to meet the needs of students and the broader community.
The Catholic Education Secretariat (CES), led by the Education Secretary (ES), is responsible for implementing the policies set forth by the AEC. The CES oversees the daily operations of the school system, ensuring that all activities align with the Archdiocese's educational mission.
